'Devnya' processing plant is relatively new plant put into operation in May 2006. The plant is situated on part of the former Old Sodium Plant site in an industrial area south of the town of Devnya with area of 5000 m2. In place of warehouses for raw material of Old Sodium Plant, now are installed modern plant facilities for primary processing of quartz sand. Products manufactured in the plant are used in the glass industry and for dry construction mixes.
The plant for quartz sand is supplied with material from the quarry Dabravino, which is located in the municipality of Avren, Varna Region , 1.3 km northeast of the village Dabravino. The extraction of silica sand in south-western Avren plateau started in an area with natural discoveries years before the geological researches were made. In 1969 MOK D. Blagoev probed and recorded the first movement of balance reserves of this raw material.
On the occasion of the European Minerals Day , the schoolchildren of Devnya are invited to visit Dabravino quarry of Kaolin AD, learn about the world of minerals and current environmental measures by the company.
