'Ustrem' processing plant

'Ustrem' processing plant was built in 1957. The enterprise was acquired by Kaolin AD in 2003. Since its establishment, Ustrem plant has been awarded national prizes for high production results. The plant is the first in Bulgaria where is carried out extraction of lead-zinc ore flotation concentrate , 4 - lead, zinc, copper, pyrite and gravity ones. The latter had the content of gold from 500 to 1500 grams per tonne. Flotation plant is unique and as for its technology and so with its employed professionals. Today the factory near the village of Ustrem , Municipality Topolovgrad, produces three types of dolomite and feldspar.

Industrial minerals for the needs of Ustrem Factory are extracted from three localities in the region of southern Bulgaria.

'Kanarata' Quarry is located 14 km from the city of Topolovgrad and 3 km north of the Hlyabovo village, Topolovgrad municipality, Haskovo Region . There is extracted quartz-feldspar raw material (sodium feldspar). Quarrying began in 2005. Extracted materials are transported and processed at 'Ustrem' processing plant and after processing are obtained several final products. Most of them are transported to the Trakya Glass Bulgaria EAD-Targovishte for the production of flat glass. The other part is intended for the ceramics industry.

Kanarata Zapad Quarry is adjacent to Kanarata quarry It started its operations in May 2010 Raw material, its processing and marketing of final products are the same Kanarata quarry.

'Ustrem' Quarry is located about 6 km east of the village with the same name and about 1500 m. north of Ustrem floatation plant ;it is within Topolovgrad municipality, Haskovo region . The operation of the quarry began in April 2007 as there potassium-sodium feldspar is extracted . After processing the raw material in 'Ustrem' processing plant , the resulting product is used in ceramic production.

'Melnitsa' Quarry is located between the villages of Srem and Melnitsa and administratively belongs to Topolovgrad municipality, Haskovo Region . Minerals are dolomite marbles, which are the raw material for the ceramics industry. Quarry has not been put into operation yet.

Within the planned initiatives related to the European Minerals Day , Kaolin , schoolchildren from Topolovgrad shall visit Kanarata Quarry and will learn about the wealth of minerals, their application and commitments that the company takes to protect the environment.
